A few things to know before you start.

What is Ostatok?

Ostatok is a personal finance app that you run on your own computer or server. Add income, plan expenses and savings, and see the money left. The source code is on GitHub.

Who is it for?

Ostatok is for people who want to plan each payment they receive and keep their data on their own server. You need to be able to set up and run Docker apps.

Where is my data stored?

Your records are in a database on the computer or server where you run Ostatok. This landing page does not collect your financial data.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Open the app in your phone’s browser. Your phone must be able to connect to your server.

What do I need to run it?

You need Docker with Compose and a computer or server. The app code and setup steps are in one GitHub repository. See Get started.

Is Ostatok free?

Yes. The app is free to use. You run it on your own computer or server. If you rent a server, you pay that provider for hosting.

Which languages can I use?

The app interface is available in English and Russian.

Can I choose my currency?

Yes. Choose one currency for your records. Ostatok does not convert amounts or track exchange rates.

Does Ostatok connect to my bank?

No. You enter income and plan expenses yourself. Ostatok does not need access to your bank account.

Is this my bank balance?

No. Money left is the income you enter minus the expenses and savings you plan. It is based on your entries, not live bank data.
